Ingredient Deep Dive Hyaluronic Acid: Everything you need to know

Hyaluronic acid is often associated with its moisturizing effect, but this versatile molecule can do much more: from anti-inflammatory effects to supporting the skin's natural barrier function - hyaluronic acid offers the skin many benefits. Find out more about hyaluronic acid in skin care here.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the skin and connective tissue. It is part of a network of large molecules such as collagen and proteins that protect the cells in our skin and other tissues. It can bind large amounts of water, making it highly hydrating to the skin and providing a cushioning effect that has a rejuvenating effect on the skin's appearance. However, as we age, our bodies produce less and less hyaluronic acid; people in their late 40s have only half as much hyaluronic acid in their bodies as people in their twenties. This causes the skin to lose volume and moisture, which can lead to fine lines, wrinkles and a dull complexion. Interestingly, epigenetics also plays a role in skin aging and the production of hyaluronic acid. Epigenetic factors, such as environmental exposure and lifestyle, affect the activity of our genes, including those responsible for the synthesis of hyaluronic acid and other important skin components. Stress, UV radiation and unhealthy eating habits can cause epigenetic changes that accelerate skin aging by reducing the production of hyaluronic acid and collagen.

How does hyaluronic acid work in skin care?

Hyaluronic acid offers both immediate and long-term benefits to the skin. It provides a visible lifting, glowing and plumping effect. In addition, hyaluronic acid strengthens the skin's natural barrier function, prevents water from deeper layers of the skin from reaching the surface and evaporating there, and makes the skin more elastic and less susceptible to aging and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid also relieves inflammation and supports wound healing.

Is there a difference between different hyaluronic acid formulations?

Not all hyaluronic acids are the same. There are different formulations with different effects. For example, classic hyaluronic acid, such as in Dr. Tonar's EYE, can be combined with vitamin A to effectively stimulate collagen production. In addition to classic hyaluronic acid, there is another form with special properties. Oligo-hyaluronic acid is a special form of hyaluronic acid that consists of smaller molecules that can penetrate particularly deeply into the skin and act there as a lasting moisture reservoir and specifically against premature skin aging. Valuable water-soluble vitamins are transported through it into the skin and develop their effect there. Oligo-hyaluronic acid is contained in BOOST and ROYAL. Both serums have an intensive effect and penetrate deep into the skin for a particularly strong effect on the skin.

What makes BOOST unique?

At Dr. Tonar Cosmetics, oligo-hyaluronic acid is used in the cell-protecting hyaluronic serum BOOST. The hyaluronic serum is not only enriched with oligo-hyaluronic acid, but also contains vitamin C, vitamin B3, provitamin B5 and the epigenetically effective stress protection molecule ectoin. It is a highly effective cell-protecting, anti-inflammatory, natural active ingredient that protects the skin from allergens, UV light, air pollution and fine dust particles, heat or dryness. Ectoin counteracts transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and reduces wrinkles. Ectoin also has a lasting soothing effect on irritated or very sensitive skin. The vitamins C, B3 and B5 it contains support skin health and also have an antioxidant and regenerating effect.

Application BOOST cell-protecting hyaluronic serum

The hyaluronic serum is best applied to the face, neck and décolleté in the morning and evening - before day or night cream - and gently massaged in. After a short exposure time, other care products can be applied. Pro tip: The combination of BOOST and NIGHT is ideal for oily skin and skin prone to blemishes, as BOOST has an anti-inflammatory effect and the AHA complex in NIGHT has a cell-renewing and clarifying effect on the skin. For skin that tends to be dry, BOOST can be perfectly mixed with LIFT. The LIFT facial oil provides the skin with additional moisture. The combination of hyaluronic serum and facial oil is also the perfect care product for summer temperatures, as it supplies the skin with vitamins and protects it from environmental influences. BOOST and LIFT give even dry skin a beautiful glow.

SKIN PERFECTION HYALURONIC BOOST

Hyaluronic acid is more than just an ingredient in skin care products - it is a key factor in skin health and beauty. Its ability to bind moisture, plump the skin, fight oxidative damage and strengthen the skin's natural barrier function makes it a valuable addition to the skin care routine for people of all ages.
