Our skin is exposed to many stressors every day: fine dust, makeup, sebum, and sweat – all of these accumulate on the skin's surface. If the skin is not thoroughly or gently cleansed, this can lead to blemishes and a dull complexion in the long run.
But what constitutes a good cleanse – and how can you get the most out of your skincare routine?

Why proper cleaning is so important
Our skin's surface is populated by a finely tuned microflora, the so-called microbiome. This natural protective layer wards off harmful germs, regulates the pH value, and supports the skin barrier. If it is disrupted by unsuitable cleansing products—for example, by harsh surfactants, alcohol, or fragrances—irritation, inflammation, increased blemishes, and, in the long term, even premature skin aging can occur.
Furthermore: If makeup residues, dirt particles or oxidized fats remain on the skin, more free radicals are produced – molecules that damage cell structures and slow down the skin's natural renewal process.
In short: Insufficient cleansing not only disrupts the skin's appearance but also attacks cell health – which has a visible long-term effect on skin quality.
Skincare products can only be effective on clean skin.
No matter how high-quality your skincare products are, they cannot work to their full potential without thorough cleansing. Dirt, dead skin cells, and oxidized lipids block the skin's surface and prevent active ingredients from penetrating deeply enough.
Therefore, a good cleansing routine is not optional – it is the first active step in your skincare.

Cleansing that understands how your skin works
At Dr. Tonar Cosmetics, skincare begins with cleansing that speaks the language of the skin – and strengthens its natural function. Our formulations are precisely tailored to the skin's natural needs: They preserve the delicate acid mantle, maintain the balance of the microbiome, and specifically strengthen the lipid barrier. At the same time, they promote the absorption of subsequent skincare products and help minimize transepidermal water loss.
By combining scientifically sound active ingredients with epigenetically active ingredients, our cleansing product forms the first, crucial step towards healthy, radiant skin.

The ideal cleaning routine with CLEANSE and PEEL:
Morning: Start the day feeling fresh and protected
Start your day with gentle cleansing using our mild CLEANSE cleansing gel. Apply a small amount of the gel to the damp skin of your face, neck, and décolleté. Massage it in using gentle, circular motions for about 30 seconds to stimulate circulation and thoroughly cleanse your skin. Then rinse it off with lukewarm water.
Tip: For oily or combination skin, a longer massage is recommended to remove excess sebum and impurities even more effectively.
Evening: Support regeneration during sleep
After a long day, thorough cleansing with CLEANSE is especially important. It removes makeup, dirt, sebum, and environmental pollutants that accumulate on the skin throughout the day. As in the morning, apply a small amount, massage it in for about 30 seconds, and then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
1-2 times per week: Scrub for gentle exfoliation
Use our enzyme peel PEEL 1-2 times per week to remove dead skin cells and promote skin regeneration. Place a teaspoon of the powder into your moistened palm and work it into a light lather. Apply the peel to your face, neck, and décolleté using gentle, circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Rinse the peel off thoroughly with plenty of water.
Tip: For normal skin, we recommend using PEEL 2–3 times per week. For sensitive skin, 1–2 times, and for oily skin, it can even be used daily.
Healthy skin begins with the right cleansing ritual.
A thorough cleansing routine lays the foundation for healthy, radiant skin, protects it from daily stressors, and perfectly prepares it for subsequent care. This makes it the indispensable first step in your longevity skincare routine.
